Baptized Joseph-François-Omer Blanchet. Son of Elzéar Blanchet (deceased in 1898) and Florentine Caron (deceased in 1908), of Cap St-Ignace. He stated being born on 21 July when he enlisted. He named his brother Raoul, of Québec, as next of kin.
