  • Grave Marker– Grave of 1012727 Pvt. George Henry Shorten who served with the 230th Battn. Canadian Forestry Corps C.E.F.
Born at Bryer Hill in Staffordshire England on Dec. 30th 1864, he enlisted into the C.E.F. twice (1)...At Vancouver Bc on Dec. 19th 1915 in the 143rd Battn. C.E.F. he listed his occupation as "Stoker" He was discharged in Jan. of 1916 due to being over age & flat feet.
(2)...At Vancouver BC on Nov. 8th 1916 with the 230th Battn. C.E.F. he listed his occupation this time as "Teamster" Both times he listed prior military service with thr 7th Battn. Duke of Edinbourough Rifles & The Cape Rifles South Africa.  George died at Vancouver BC on Oct. 17th 1920 at the age of 54.  He was laid to rest in the Mountain View cemetery of Vancouver BC.
