Son of Louise Pinçon « Pinson » (deceased in 1893) and Daniel Houle (deceased in 1906), of Coaticook, Stanstead, Québec. His baptismal record could not be retraced and the date of birth listed above matches what was declared in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. After his mother died, Albert was under the custody of his step-brother Honoré Houle (Henry Hall), husband of Rose Vézina, of Charlemagne, l’Assomption, Québec. Albert stated being born in 1890 when he enlisted.

Albert previously joined the 22nd Battalion (service number 61133), from 22 October 1914 to 25 February 1915 and was released as medically unfit. He re-enlisted one month later with the 41st Battalion and eventually reached France with the 13th Battalion, on 29 August 1915. He was killed in action seven months later.
