Location:

Lievin is a small town in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, 3.5 kilometres west of Lens. The Communal Cemetery is on the south-west side of the town on the road to Givenchy-en-Gohelle.

  • Circumstances of death registers– Source: Library and Archives Canada. CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH REGISTERS, FIRST WORLD WAR Surnames: Dack to Dabate. Microform Sequence 26; Volume Number 31829_B016735. Reference RG150, 1992-93/314, 170. Page 173 of 1140. Signed his Attestation Paper as James Whitman Dalryymple. Initially buried in Acheville Road Cemetery, just East of Vimy, 3 ¾ miles South of Lens. After the Armistice his body was exhumed and re-interred in LIEVIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
  • Memorial– James Whitney Dalrymple shares a memorial stone with his parents in Robie Street Cemetery in Truro, Colchester, Nova Scotia. The memorial has him titled as a "Captain" which must refer to his rank as a master mariner in civilian life.
