Cst. Giesbrecht was shot between the two panels on the sides of his vest. He was married to Susan and they had two sons. His funeral was attended by 1800 police officers and 750 civilians in Slave Lake, AB.

Commemorated on Page 176 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
