Sgt. Nicholson was born in Ireland. He was the Force’s first chauffeur. He was promoted to Cpl. in 1916 and to Sgt. in 1919. In 1918 he went to war as part of the RNWMP Cavalry Draft. He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Sgt. Nicholson was married to Margaret and had two children, Alice and Harold. He was killed while conducting a search for an illicit still. Sgt. Nicholson is buried in the RCMP Cemetery at Depot.

Commemorated on Page 49 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
