Constable Herron was a farm labourer from Ireland. He was promoted to corporal June 6, 1888 and was discharged July 25, 1889 as his term of service had been completed. He re-engaged in April 1890 as a constable. Constable Herron died while on patrol during a blizzard near St. Mary's River.

Commemorated on Page 18 of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Honour Roll Book.
