The We Will Remember Exhibit

We Will Remember.

These simple words were the driving force in creation of the We Will Remember exhibit at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial's new Visitor Education Centre.

Conceived by a team of historians, museologists, writers and designers, the exhibit uses historical information, new media, artefacts and personal stories to provide visitors with a window on Canada and Newfoundland's First World War experience.

Among the themes explored are:

  • the transition of young Canadians and Newfoundlanders 'from citizens to soldiers'
  • key Canadian and Newfoundland milestones, including an in-depth look at the Battle of Vimy Ridge
  • the personal impact of war on Canadians at home and abroad
  • conception, construction and meaning of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial
  • Canada's enduring commitment to honour the sacrifices and contributions of those who served

The We Will Remember exhibit will not only provide historical information and perspectives to help visitors better understand the significance of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, it will also represent an enduring promise made by a grateful nation. We will remember. Today, tomorrow and always.

We Will Remember

The Government of Canada, in partnership with the Vimy Foundation, is currently constructing a new Visitor Education Centre at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial. The Centre will provide visitors to the national historic site with comprehensive and meaningful information about Canada's contribution to the First World War, including the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Check back for more behind the scenes exclusives as we move toward the Centre's April 2017 opening!
