The Campaign in Northwest Europe

On D-Day, June the sixth, 1944, the men of the Canadian Army, supported by their brothers of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force landed on the Normandy shores of one of Canada's great motherlands. Unyielding and indomitable these sons of our earth bore the honour of Canada through the battle flames of the Scheldt Estuary, Caen, Falaise, and many other famous fields, and helped to free millions of bondsmen from the dark prison house.

In this book are recorded the names of over eleven thousand Canadians who were killed or died of wounds suffered in North-West Europe. They fell in the glory of their young manhood and we live in freedom by their valour. Their memory beckoning us across the gulfs of time and space will not perish as love of country and the splendour of courage are cherished amongst the sons and daughters of this land
