The Memorial stands on Hill 145 on Vimy Ridge: the primary
objective of the Canadians on April 9, 1917.
It's rainy and cold and muddy.
We stayed in the tunnel all night, and the air was so bad that the candle couldn't be lit.
This weather is terrible, and the sufferings of the men sever, while the sufferings of the wounded are colossal.
I sincerely hope that this is the beginning of the end.
