Mrs Brigitte Fouré, Mayor of Amiens: On the 8th of August 1918, Canadian soldiers and their allies
began a military campaign aimed at liberating the region of Amiens.
They fought courageously and displayed valour.
On the 11th of August after years of war and occupation, we were free once again.
Peace had been restored. It has been 100 years since that great achievement
but the people of Amiens remember and are grateful
