Location:

Maple Copse Cemetery is located 5 Km south east of Ieper town centre, a road leading from the Meenseweg (N8), connecting Ieper to Menen. From Ieper town centre the Meenseweg is located via Torhoutstraat and right onto Basculestraat. Basculestraat ends at a main cross roads, directly over which begins the Meenseweg. 2.5 Km along the Meenseweg shortly after the Birr Cross Roads Cemetery, lies the right hand turning onto Wulvestraat. About 1 Km along the Wulvestraat is the left hand turning onto Schachteweidestraat. The cemetery itself is located 2 Km along the Schachteweidestraat on the right hand side of the road.

  • Memorial Plaque– Medal Trio plus Death Plaque and Memorial Cross to Lieut. C.A.Pope, along with various personal effects and uniform accoutrements. His brothers were also unfortunately killed during the Great War, Pte Henry Baldwin Pope, 16th Can Inf (killed 04 Jun 16) and Pte Ernest Campbell Pope, 7th Can Inf (killed 10 Nov 17).
  • Medals– 14/15 Star, BWM, VM, Death Plaque, and Memorial Cross to Lt C.A. Pope, along with personal effects and badges. Sadly, his two brothers would also perish in the Great War.
