Vimy was an uphill battle of unsanitary mud and water. Soldiers not only fought the enemy but fatigue and disease. Yet, despite the constant German threat and deplorable conditions, Canadians found a way to keep their spirits high and finally take the hill.

For me, there are no more days, no more nights. No love, no friends.
Please, don't forget me! And, don't give up!
Remember that I died for an ideal that is also your own.
Pursue it! Turn your painful memories into hope and carry on!
Thus will I live on in your memory.
