Minister Fantino and Shaw Media co-host 28 Heroes film screening honouring Veterans of the Korean War

November 6, 2013

The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, presents ministerial certificates of excellence to Lieutenant Ed Mastronardi and Private Red Butler, members of the 2nd Platoon, “A” Company, 2RCR, in recognition of their service and incredible valour during the Korean War. Lieutenant Mastronardi and Private Butler narrated the 28 Heroes documentary. The Korean War was one of Canada’s most significant military engagements of the 20th century. More than 26,000 Canadians served in the Korean War before an armistice agreement that ended the active fighting was signed on July 27, 1953. Veterans’ Week is celebrated every year from November 5 to 11. During this week, hundreds of commemorative ceremonies and events take place across the country to remember the achievements and sacrifices of our Veterans.
