Veterans Affairs Canada expanding outreach to Veterans in the territories and other northern communities

September 2, 2016

The Honourable Kent Hehr, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, joined Veterans and their families in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to announce that Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) will provide an enhanced level of service and outreach to Veterans and their families in the territories and other northern communities.

Frontline VAC staff will travel to meet face-to-face with Veterans and their families and share information on benefits and services with those who may not be aware. The Department is continuing to hire up to 400 new employees to help ensure that Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, RCMP personnel, and their families are provided with the best possible services when and where they need them. Hiring new employees will permit the Department to reduce case managers’ caseloads to a maximum of 25 Veterans.
