Transcript
Dear Veterans, This year, on the 145th birthday of our country, Canada celebrates the 95th anniversary of the birth of a nation at Vimy. Thanks to the sacrifices and courage of our Veterans during numerous conflicts and missions, and to the men and women in uniform today, we live in a democracy that promotes freedom. As I travel across the country, I meet Canadians from far and wide. They tell me how grateful they are and how they admire you ... brave Veterans ... courageous service men and women and your families. That's why I am so proud of our efforts to improve programs and cut red tape so you can receive the support you deserve, in a faster and simpler way. On this Canada Day, we celebrate the legacy you have given us and the values of freedom and rule of law you have defended. We can be very proud of the Veterans and men and women of the Canadian Forces who have served our country with honour and integrity in the past ... as well as those who continue to do so today. On this Canada Day, I invite all Canadians ... especially the younger generations ... to reconnect with the accomplishments of Canada's Veterans. Remember their lasting legacy and proudly carry the torch of freedom. Happy Canada Day! Canada
