La Ville de Petawawa (Ont.) a commémoré le travail effectué par le 2e Régiment du génie de combat sur le Sentier transcanadien en plaçant un monument représentant un panneau de pont Bailey le long du côté nord du sentier, à l’endroit où le sentier se rapproche le plus de la rivière Petawawa. Ce monument rappelant le travail effectué par ce régiment en 1999 sur le « collier d’émeraude », une section de 1,5 kilomètre du Sentier transcanadien qui traverse la ville de Petawawa, offre un bref historique du 2 RGC et de ses réalisations au sein de la collectivité et au pays.

Town of Petawawa projects supported by members of 2 CER:
- Construction of the second major soccer field at the Petawawa Civic Centre
- Leveling of an area for a practice filed which is now the Centre’s third soccer field
- Brushed, grubbed and shaped the third ball field at the Civic Centre
- Designed and completely built this Millennium Trail to road standards
- Erection of the Bailey bridge for the Trillium Trail opposite Pineview School
- Design input and construction of the Trillium Trail bridge over the Petawawa River
