Dragoon Place was dedicated by the Canada Lands Company on August 23, 2011, as part of their redevelopment of Edmonton’s former Canadian Forces Base (Griesbach Barracks).
The Royal Canadian Dragoons est le régiment de cavalerie le plus ancien au Canada, ayant été formé le 21 Décembre 1883, à Québec, au Québec lorsque le « Cavalry School Corps » fut autorisé. Il fut rebaptisé « Canadian Dragoons » le 14 mai 1892.
