Son of Captain Herbert Ludlow and Olga Gwen Davis of Bombay, India. There is a seven-in-nine chance that Pilot Officer Davis lies in Rangoon War Cemetery, Myanmar. The individually unidentified remains of only seven of the nine crewmen from his bomber are buried there in Plot 4, Row E, Graves 14 to 20. Each grave marker reads: An Airman of the 1939-1945 War, Royal Air Force, 29th February 1944, Known unto God.
Pilot Officer Davis and his eight crew members are also commemorated by name on the Singapore Memorial, Singapore. Pilot Officer Davis is commemorated on column 443.

RANGOON WAR CEMETERY
Myanmar

The cemetery is situated between Myienegone and Manthawaddy roundabout (close to the circle) and at the back of Burma Translation Society (Sarbaybeikmann). The entrance to the cemetery is down a lane facing east along PYI road (formerly Prome Road) some 8 kilometres from the port, 12 kilometres from the airport and 5 kilometres from the main railway station. There is no road direction sign to the cemetery, but Monasteries surround the cemetery on three sides. A caretaker resides on site and the cemetery gates are open between 8am and 5 pm. Wheelchair access possible via main entrance.

Rear gunner on 159 Sqn Liberator BZ962 "D", shot down over Rangoon by fighters night of 29 Feb 1944. 7 of 9 crewmen's bodies found in 1951, buried in Rangoon War Cemetery as unknowns. Michael's Liberator was one of two from 159 Squadron lost on 29 Feb 1944 to the guns of Nakajima Ki-43 "Oscar" fighter pilots Bunichi Yamaguchi (19 aircraft shot down) and Hiroshi Takiguchi (9 aircraft shot down) of the 204th Sentai, Japanese Army Air Force. Each bomber was attacked from behind after searchlights had illuminated it for the fighters. -
