Location:

Wijnaldum is a village 5 kilometres east-north-east of Harlingen. This little town and port is the nearest convenient centre for Wijnaldum. The BARRADEEL-(WIJNALDUM)-PROTESTANT CHURCHYARD surrounds the church, which is in the centre of the village. The graves are in its south-eastern corner.

JB924 was one of three No.78 Halifaxes lost on this operation. Airborne 2317 13May43 from Linton-on-Ouse, it was shot down by a night- fighter and crashed 0255 , some 4 km NE of Harlingen, Holland. Six of those killed are buried in Barradeel (Wijnaldum) protestant Churchyard but RCAF Navigator J. M. Farrell is buried in Franekeradeel (Dongjum) Protestant Churchyard.  In addition to the two RCAF members, also killed were RAF F/S R.E.Bragg; Sgt E.Pritchard; F/L R.Grey; Sgt R.D.Matches; and Sgt D.Baxter. One, Sgt H.E.Gell, survived and was taken PoW.
