Baptized Joseph-Napoléon-Narcisse Picard.
Son of Narcisse Picard-dit-Des-Trois-Maisons and Césarie Savard (deceased in 1894).
His father remarried to Lumina Guay in 1898 and died in 1906. She died in 1917.
He stated being born in Québec when he enlisted. He used his brother Eugène-Arthur, of Montréal, as next-of-kin and the latter emigrated to the United States shortly after.
Narcisse Picard was decorated for conspicuous bravery leading a peloton during the attack against Regina Trench, in Courcelette, on October 1st, 1916. Severely wounded to the lungs and made prisoner, he died in captivity 3 weeks later.

Cambrai is a large town in the Department of the Nord on the east bank of the River Escaut. The PORTE-DE-PARIS CEMETERY stands in the south-west outskirts of the town near the old gate on the road to Paris.
