Villers-au-Bois is a village in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, 11 kilometres north-west of Arras. The VILLERS STATION CEMETERY is about 2 kilometres north-west of the village.

  • Photo of Malcolm McInnes Gray– 129 / 706073 L/Cpl Malcolm McInnes Gray, "D" Company, 102nd Battalion, 2nd (Central Ontario) Regiment, 11th Infantry Brigade, 4th Canadian Division of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF). Oldest son of Alexander Gray of Culmaily, Lairg, Sutherland, Scotland, Farmer and his wife, Catherine, daughter of Malcolm McInnes. Born; Culmaily aforesaid, 3rd July 1883. Educated; Lairg Public School; Emigrated to Canada, 25th July 1903.

Previously served with 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders prior to emigration and for 22 months with “A” Company, 2nd Bn. 50th Regiment (Gordon Highlanders of Canada) from January 1914. 

He is buried in Plot 9, Row B, Grave 15, Villers Station Cemetery, Villers-au-Bois, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France

Circumstances of Casualty Report: "Killed In Action"
While his company was pushing forward its position in front of the Generating Station, in the neighbourhood of Avion, he was instantly killed by enemy shell fire.
