This memorial honours the memory of the members of Ottawa South Methodist Church who gave their lives in the First World War as well as members who served and returned from the war.

This plaque was originally displayed in Ottawa South Methodist Church. However, with the 1925 union of the Methodist and Presbyterian churches to form the United Church of Canada, Ottawa South Methodist Church and Calvin Presbyterian Church consolidated to form Southminster United Church with the artifacts and records of the former churches relocated to Southminster United Church. The Ottawa South Methodist Church building was demolished in 1931 and the same site was used to build the Southminster United Church building.
