Embarking to India

Heroes Remember

Transcript
And we landed in Liverpool and from Liverpool we took a train to London, and I can remember we stayed in a little sort of a building on Wimbledon Street and we stayed there for, in England for about a month I believe. And then later on we went back to Liverpool, to embark to India, going down the Rock of Gibraltar, the Mediterranean, down the Red Sea, then turned around from the Red Sea to, through the Indian Ocean to Bombay, India. I believe my both parents were kinda sad, you know, seeing us leave. They accepted that, our decision to go, but I don't think they were very happy seeing us go, but we had to go. And, you know, in those days we thought we were immortal, we never had any none until we actually were ready to go, that you know you felt kind of apprehensive. We never encountered anything, I think at that time the allies controlled the Mediterranean Sea at the time, at that time you know they took I think, I believe they occupied all of North Africa then, you know, when the Germans weren't around to cause any problems.
