The two doctors, McIndoe and Tilley, Ross Tilley was a Canadian wing commander. McIndoe was from Austraila, and they worked together very well, but I think it’s what they did for these men spiritually, making them feel that they weren’t patients. They were just bodies that were being rebuilt and they were all together as one serving as best they could. And he wanted them to remember they were men, and they were useful and they could do whatever they wanted to do. They could wear civvies and he didn’t want any difference between them wearing blue coats or whatever. They were all people - no lieutenants and commanders and whatever. They were all one.
