Interviewer: Tell me Mr. Sutherland-Brown, when you finally heard about V-J Day, that the fact that war was over in the Pacific, do you remember what impact it had on you?
Well, yeah um, to some degree but ah, and you know, the use of the atom bombs one um, one wondered whether there might have been a better way of demonstrating them. But it certainly, everyone expected the Japanese to fight to the finish and that can't be minimized. And it would have been a long war without it going all the way through South East Asia, and probably would have been more disastrous for Japan too because, when you think of the bombing effort they could have put in by normal processes and would of, it would have been just as disastrous.
