Transcription
Interviewer: How did you come to be wounded?
Well, I was attacking a, a train just north of Rangoon, just north of Pegu, and um, I had an explosion that right under my feet. At the time I thought it was enemy fire but it wasn't, it was a, one of my own shells that pre-ignited and ah, put some shrapnel into my legs. But it didn't matter who, where it came from, it was an impediment, shall we say.
Interviewer: Aside from your injury, what effect did that have on the aircraft?
Oh well, it was pretty highly damaged ah, but not, you know it flew again. But it ah, we had several of these things and it would eventually trace very soon after my accident to a type of faulty ammunition, um. So there are a number of hazards that you faced.
