The buzz bombs, we had problems with those, yeah.

Interviewer: Did you?

They were scary. The first go around I had with them, I was on duty by myself on the top of Seamich Queue (sp) in the middle of London and these things started coming over and it was a different noise to an airplane and they were trying to shoot them down, of course. It was very noisy. I kept running around trying to find out what these things were. The barager balloons were all up at that time though. After they brought them down so they wouldn't trap them. But it was really quite scary, quite scary, and then we learned what they were. And of course you could hear them coming and then they'd shut out and you could count to fifteen before they went off. That was a long fifteen seconds. I remember when we were going off on leave, we were going off to Oxford on it. We didn't have any leave at that time but we could take courses. So we went off to a Shakespearean course in Oxford and we were going to sleep in and a buzz bomb hit and blew the windows in and all that sort of thing. So we got up and left, left in a hurry. Yeah, they were really scary.
