At this point I just have to remark again on the, on the... they’re all heroes, camaraderie and the sense of humour. The minute the boys got feeling stable at all somehow that sense of humour came and they’d look at the fellow next door and say, “Well, I’m glad I haven’t got what you got.” Maybe ones without a leg or the other, the next boy is without a hand, and the next boy’s got shrapnel all over him. They seemed to what, make the best, that sounds funny, make the best of their wounds, and the first, once they got on their feet they’d come right to us and say, “What can we do to help? ” I really think war brings out maybe the worst but it brings out the best is people.
