It’s a very smart country, the people are very nice, the people are nice in Egypt as well. The lifestyle I think is what made the difference. They were wealthier, better off, better fed, better dressed. When you see a ten year old boy coming up the street and wanting to sell you a wrist watch - what kind do you want and he’s got a whole bunch of stolen wrist watches on his wrist, that’s how he makes his living. The food wasn’t bad, we had our own cooks but we had to buy local, and a friend of mine, no names... he liked his vegetables, we all do, and when he found out how they grew them out there and what they used as fertilizer, he wouldn’t eat another vegetable while he was there. Because they used to come in and if you know what a honey bucket is, portable toilets, and they’d come in through our camps and they’d empty these into these big carts with their donkeys and out they’d go and this would be spread into fields as fertilizer and then those vegetables would grow and then they would sell them back to us and when my chum found this out, and I guess most of us felt about the same way but it’s all education, what you learn. You learn something every day.
