Homecoming

I landed in Vancouver on the 23rd of November ‘45, and I got home on the 27th of November. I landed in Winnipeg the 27th of November. When we had a great big celebration in Vancouver for me, a great big welcome homecoming for us there. There was, as I said there was 37 of us coming back on that train. And the difference was just like between day and night when just like when you asked me when you come to Vancouver. The difference was just like between day and night like I said. The Americans treated us so Goddamned good and then when we come to Canada, and we had to tow the mark because we where back on our own turf with a uniform on, we had to tow the mark with our, eh? ... So it was just the difference of day and night. When I got to Winnipeg on the 27th of November as I said, landed in Winnipeg. And then I had to go into the barracks there, to get my, to get all my papers for to get my leave and everything so it took a couple of days for that. Well all my parents met me and everything in Winnipeg at the CN Station there. That was, that was great. That was great to see my father at that time.
