Another Bad Place in the World

Interviewer: Did you feel your purpose for being there was achieved? Oh my goodness, not by a long shot. I mean we didn’t even, didn’t even scratch anything I mean. Yes we were there to give advice to the shops and try and help them repair their trucks, but there’s no structure. There was no parts provisions. There was no oil for oil changes and stuff like that. There was nothing! So we couldn’t do anything except write up our report saying until there’s a structure there, there’s no use of us being there. So no, no, it was just a waste of time and money actually. Just showed us another bad place in the world. We were not there very long. We went in in May and came out early August I believe, yeah. Our mission was turned over to the Americans. So we had a group that took our places and off we went. We went in there with big hearts and came out just, you know, one wish I always had is to have the strength to take the island by the roots, sink it down to the ocean, swish it up real good, clean it up and put it back up and “Here, start over”. That’s how bad it is. I mean, I was so frustrated when I left, there was, we were all so frustrated when we left. We just wanted to get out. You’re just, no good.
