Men had a lot of boils in their necks and one orderly would help another to clean up their neck or something like that and you know, you didn’t have a blade, you had a hard time to shave, you know, your face, you’d leave your whisker was growing and you’d get sores and that and when you did have a chance, it was just God awful. I brought some pictures to show them, my wife, I have a daughter that never looked at them but I’ve had people that looked at some of them pictures I have of Hong Kong fellows when we landed back in Gordon Head, BC. They had a hard time to believe it was Canadians. I mean, they were sent to me by a friend of mine from the west coast that a nurse took of us when we came back from Hong Kong and landed in Gordon Head, BC. Not good to look at.
