The Sad Part of War

You feel pretty proud that you did your share, that’s about it. I did my part. Nothing extraordinary you might say but I was there, I mean, and I quite often think like armistice, the people we lost in Dieppe, people we lost in Normandy, our comrades and people lost in Holland
and even in Germany. The gun detachment that I had left, one of them got a direct hit and I think the whole twelve people were killed but you don’t hear too much about it but all you know a certain detachment got hit so that’s all you hear, you know. That’s sad, that part.
