Description
During her high school year, a visit from military officer inspires her desire to make military service a part of her life
Transcription
Well when I was in Grade nine we had a military officer, I believe. I don’t remember the ranks because I didn’t know the ranks at the time. He was all dressed up in his full service uniform and came to our library and they had a career day. And our class went into the library and he told us about his service and the experiences he had. I was impressed by his medals, by his confidence, his maturity and I wanted to be part of something bigger than me. So I decided grade nine I will finish high school, go through university. I will do my thing and I kept getting drawn back to my idea of being in the military so when I went to Memorial University for the first couple of years to pay for school I joined the reserve unit in Newfoundland and now I’m here.
