"In 1919 the school districts of Bertha and Riverbank united to build a church as a memorial to four men, Jack Fisher, Harry Hardwick, Harry Martin and Cecil Minary who gave their lives in World War l (1914 - 1918). The church served as a place for worship and recreation until it closed in 1966. In 1994 the people of Berbank District, past and present, dedicate this cairn to all the men and women who have served their country with distinction and also to our pioneers."

Avant même la fin de la guerre, la localité de Treesbank érigea un monument « artisanal » insolite à la mémoire des hommes « qui ont combattu, combattent et combattront pour le roi et la patrie, pour la liberté et la civilisation » (Traduction du Manitoba Free Press, 10 mars 1917). Complété 18 mois avant l’armistice et s’élevant à environ trois mètres de hauteur, le Treesbank War Shrine (ou mausolée de guerre de Treesbank), fut construit de bois peint (remplacé depuis par un cairn de pierre) et ses inscriptions peintes s’érodèrent au fil du temps, en raison des conditions météorologiques, malgré le surplomb en bardeau les protégeant. Autrefois, un Union Jack flottait au bout du mât surmontant le monument.

Le monument à Forrest est un genre de stèle funéraire populaire qui, étrangement, n'a été utilisé que pour une poignée de monuments de guerre : la colonne simple et évocatrice. Cet exemple ajoute de la dignité par son élévation sur une base large avec marches. L'utilisation d'une forme en urne au sommet de la colonne était une conception populaire pour ce genre de monument. Les textes sont inscrits sur l'axe avec neuf noms de la Première Guerre mondiale et deux noms de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Ce monument érigé par la communauté de Forrest est dédié à ceux qui ont fait le sacrifice suprême et qui ont servi durant les deux guerres mondiales.

Le cénotaphe a été érigé dans le parc Victoria, en souvenir des personnes des environs qui ont servi et sont morts durant leur service militaire. Le grand pilier de pierre a un entourage paysagé et un mât de drapeau. La colonne a une croix gravée sur un côté, au dessus des années de la Première Guerre : 1918, 1917, 1916, 1915 et 1914. En avant se trouve un épée insérée dans la pierre. Sur la surface plane en avant de l’épée, on lit YPRES to MONS.
