On Vancouver Island in Ross Bay Cemetery, British Columbia, is the Victoria Memorial. The cemetery holds 133 war graves and contains, in a separate plot, the Naval Memorial which consists simply of a square block of granite bearing the names of 39 officers and men who were lost or buried at sea in the Pacific Ocean. Of these, 36 were from the HMCS Galiano that went down on October 30, 1918. Behind the Memorial stands a Cross-of Sacrifice.
