Minister Fantino's Message for Veterans' Week 2014

Transcript
My name is Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs… As we approach Remembrance Day, I’d like to share a personal story with you… It’s a story about courage, strength, and sacrifice…It’s a story about Veterans…Growing up in a small rural village in post war Italy, my family and I were accustomed to living without… But the one thing we had was the care and compassion of soldiers from the Allied forces….Some of my fondest childhood memories are of them sharing what little food they had with me...I have never forgotten this generous and comforting gesture that is etched into my memory...My fellow Canadians…there are thousands of stories like this… As we approach Remembrance Day, I invite each and every one of you to share a memory or sentiment about someone who has served…Who will you remember? This Remembrance Day, I encourage you to share your memories and stories on social media... Use the hashtag #WhoWillYouRemember. Help us create a mosaic of remembrance that is our proud Canadian heritage. Lest we forget.
