Female Veterans and male Veterans share a lot of commonalities in the transition experience. For example, they both experience the transition often as a culture shock, but there are also some unique experiences that female Veterans have during the transition. So, for example, we know that female Veterans face a steeper income decline after leaving the Forces; they are more likely to be involved in care-giving after releasing. We also know that female Veterans are more likely to medically release. A message from the Government of Canada.

On International Women’s Day we honour the women who serve our country and recognize the sacrifices they make to protect us. Both female and male #Veterans share many of the same experiences when transitioning from military to civilian life, but as Dr. Maya Eichler of Mt. St. Vincent University explains, women also face unique challenges.
