Fils de Thomas Evans, de Bethnal Green, London, Angleterre, et Mary Evans; époux de Jane Wilson (née Evans), de St. Thomas, Ontario. Frère de Edouard et beau frère de Elizabeth Grimshire. Le soldat Evans fut libéré pour raisons médicales, le 19 février 1917. Il s'enrôla de nouveau, le 17 mars 1917.

Grave of 687244 & 667 Pvt. Joseph Evans who served in both the 172nd Battn. C.E.F. (1 year) and later 102nd Battn. C.E.F. (Rocky Mountain Rangers)
Born in Pontypridd Wales on Jan 6th 1870. He enlisted (2nd time) at Kamloops BC on March 7th 1917 and was part of the Railway Service Guards. He listed his occupation(s) as "Butcher & Rancher" He died at Vancouver BC on Oct. 22nd 1918 at the age of 59.

Kamloops Cenotaph, Memorial Park, Battle Street and 2nd Avenue, Kamloops, British Columbia. Includes honour roll tablets listing 189 names for World War I and 92 names for World War II. Unveiled on May 24th, 1925. Inscribed: C.E.F. - NOR TIME NOR TIDE CAN EVER EFFACE THE MEMORY OF OUR GLORIOUS DEAD.
