Grave of 790993 Sgt. William Stokes who served with the 47th Battn. C.E.F.
Born in Staffordshire England on July 21st 1884. Husband of Ruth Stokes of Cloverdale BC. William enlisted into the 131st Battn C.E.F. (Replacement) at New Westminster BC on April 28th 1916 listing prior military service of 3 years with the 1st Staffordshire Vol. Inf. and later with the 104th Reft. Canadian Militia. He listed his occupation as "Farmer" William died at Vancouver BC on Aug. 25th 1919 at the age of 36 after serving 3 years in France. He was laid to rest in the Mountain View cemetery of Vancouver BC
