Le sergent de section Joseph White, fils d'Antonio et Mary White (née Elia), est né le 28 septembre 1921 à Thorold, en Ontario. Frère de Samuel, Roger et Lucy Ann, le Sgt s White a étudié à l'école Holy Rosary School de 1928 à 1934, puis à l'école Thorold High School de 1934 à 1940 où il a obtenu le diplôme de secondaire V. Il s'est enrôlé le 30 juin 1941 à Hamilton, en Ontario, en déclarant qu'il était célibataire et indiquant qu'il était employé de moulin. Il aimait particulièrement la nage ainsi que le rugby, le tennis, la gymnastique, le hockey et le basketball.
Le Sgt s White a perdu la vie le 5 mai 1943 lorsque son bombardier Vickers Wellington fut abattu par un chasseur allemand aux Pays-Bas. Il était âgé de 21 ans, et son nom est gravé sur le Mémorial des Forces aériennes de Runnymede.

This monument was unveiled in Wilnis on Saturday 29 March 2003. It commemorates the three Canadian airmen killed when their Vickers Wellington aircraft crashed in a field in the vicinity of the village, after it had been shot down by a German night fighter on 5 May 1943.
