569 Major George Edward Vansittart (RMC 1904) was the only son of John Pennefather Vansittart, P.W.D India, and of M. I. Vansittart. He was the great grandson of Admiral Henry Vansittart, of Bisham Abbey, Berkshire, England. He served with the Canadian Field Artillery, 4th Bde. He was Mentioned in Despatches. He died 14 May 1916. He was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium.

CIMETIÈRE MILITAIRE DE LIJSSENTHOEK Belgique
Le cimetière militaire de Lijssenthoek est situé à environ 12 kilomètres à l'ouest du cimetière municipal d'Ypres, sur la Boescheepseweg, une route qui part de la route N308 reliant Ypres à Poperinge.
À partir du centre-ville d'Ypres, rendez-vous sur la Poperingseweg par la Elverdingsestraat en passant au-dessus de deux petits carrefours giratoires sur la J. Capronstraat. La Poperingseweg est le prolongement de la J. Capronstraat et débute après un important passage à niveau. En arrivant à Poperinge, tournez à gauche sur la route périphérique de Poperinge (R33).
Suivez cette route et tournez à gauche à l'intersection avec la route N38, la Frans Vlaanderenweg. Parcourez 800 mètres sur la route N38 et tournez à gauche sur la Lenestraat. Tournez tout de suite après à droite, sur la Boescheepseweg. Le cimetière se trouve à 2 kilomètre du côté droit de cette route.
