Ce monument, voisin du mémorial de la Marine marchande du Canada et identique quant à sa dimension et sa forme a été dévoilé à Halifax, le 11 novembre 1998. Il commémore les Norvégiens enterrés en Nouvelle-Écosse ou perdus en mer durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. À l’arrière de la pierre on peut lire le nom des Norvégiens enterrés dans les cimetières de la Nouvelle-Écosse. La pierre, importée de la Norvège grâce aux dons de ses citoyens, est fabriquée de Larvikite (une pierre du type Labradorite). Le gouvernement norvégien en défraya les coûts.
