Albert Aldrich

Mr. Aldrich is a Veteran of the Second World War and also a Canadian Forces Veteran. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association for almost 55 years. Mr. Aldrich has served in a number of roles in the Association and with cadet groups, eventually becoming Commanding Officer of two Air Cadet Squadrons. He has been very successful in fundraising for the group. In turn, a number of charities have benefitted from his efforts. Mr Aldrich's continuing involvement with cadets has helped to instill a sense of leadership and citizenship in the young people of his community as well as generate interest in the Air force. Mr. Aldrich has been actively involved in raising funds for the Garden of Memories project, which he so aptly named. Located at 17 Wing, CFB Winnipeg, this project commemorates those who took part in the British Commonwealth Air Training program during the Second World War. Mr. Aldrich is a tireless volunteer who is always first in line when he feels he can make a difference. Even at the age of 90 plus years'and with the help of his Air Force Association friends'he is still able to attend community events and keeps active as much as possible. Mr. Aldrich describes himself as an individual who loves to pursue causes that he believes in and says he will never quit doing what he loves.
