Alexander Gault

Alexander Gault has dedicated hundreds of hours to advocating, fundraising and supporting Veterans and their families through the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Foundation and the For the Soldier Institute. With these two organizations, in partnership with several others, Alex has directly contributed to fundraising approximately $680,000 in support of Veterans, their families and military education for Canadian youth. Beyond fundraising, Alex has always maintained a focus on including and empowering Veterans and youth in his events.

Alex is the great-nephew of the founder of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. In 2014, he began volunteering with its Foundation by developing the needed IT infrastructure and organizational branding to increase the Foundation’s fundraising capacity.

In 2016, he co-directed the Battle of the Somme Memorial Dinner which raised $22,500 for youth military history education and helped send deserving cadets on battlefield tours in Europe. He also co-directed the Reaching the Summit event for two years, bringing serving members, Veterans and government officials together to ascend two Alberta mountains named after First World War Veterans. The events raised $149,000 for Veterans’ mental health, and memorial plaques were installed in remembrance to First World War Veterans. These events evolved into the annual Into the Summit campaign which raises money through sponsorship and individual fundraising participants’ expedition into Rats Nest Cave in Canmore, Alberta.

From 2014 to present, Alex has taken on many roles with the For the Soldier Institute. These include branding, marketing, fundraising, event and campaign director, executive on the board of directors and president. Since joining the board of directors in 2018 and becoming president in 2021, Alex has raised approximately $250,000 running casinos through Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis. Alex planned, recruited volunteers and also worked long hours to ensure these were a success. These funds have been used to support Veterans, serving military members, their families and Veteran food banks.

Between 2017-2023, Alex has twice co-directed and participated in the Heroes Hockey Challenge which brings together serving members and retired NHL stars to compete on ice. These events raised over $300,000 to date, have raised awareness of Veterans’ causes and have provided Veterans and members the opportunity to meet their ice hockey heroes.

Alex also organized Tanks & Tacos at the Military Museums in Calgary in 2022, which raised $8,500 for Veterans’ mental health and youth education and is expected to grow in 2023.

Alex’s work has always gone beyond strictly fundraising. He includes serving military members, Veterans and cadets in his campaigns. His mission is to enable Veterans’ self-determination, dignity, and catharsis by empowering them to contribute to their own mental health, self-actualization and the support of their fellow Veterans.
