Brian R. Vessey

Brian Vessey is a Veteran, having retired in 2000 after 25 years in the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers. He is nominated for his more than 34 years of membership and outstanding contributions to The Royal Canadian Legion.

He originally joined The Royal Canadian Legion in Germany in 1986. He transferred to Branch 093, Oromocto, New Brunswick in 1996 and has been a “colossal asset” to this branch for many years. He has contributed to the Veterans community on a local, district and provincial level.

He became an executive committee member and the branch Service Officer in 2004. Since 2017, he has been the Capital District Service Officer. As Service Officer, he is adept at assisting Veterans and their families and RCMP Officers with their pensions and aid applications. He can be found at the Legion every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon assisting Veterans, but also regularly welcomes people into his home to assist them.

He is also an active colour party member, youth leadership and cadet coordinator, chaperone for Legion Track and Field and Second Career Assistance Network (SCAN) briefer, who regularly briefs local schools and RCMP units.
