Corporal (Ret’d) William H Costain

Richmond, British Columbia

Corporal (Ret’d) William H. Costain is nominated for his dedication to the wellbeing of the Veterans in the community.

For over 24 years, he has been the Service Officer at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #291, Richmond, where he spends his time helping Veterans with their claims and benefits. He goes out of his way to visit Veterans at their homes in order to assist them and see that they have all they need. He also makes regular visits to the hospital to check up on Veterans and inquire on their wellbeing. He pays particular attention to Veterans with mobility issues. He will personally pick up donated scooters, wheelchairs and walkers and deliver them to Veterans with his own vehicle.

He also helps out during the Poppy Campaign, using his personal vehicle to distribute poppies in the lead up to Remembrance Day. At the end of the campaign, he then retrieves the poppy trays and assists in the reconciliation of the donations.
