Donald Stewart Ethell OMM, MSC, OStJ, AOE, CD

Mr. Ethell is President of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping, as well as of both the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada Associations. A Veteran of 14 peacekeeping missions, Mr. Ethell served as security advisor to CARE in Somalia and Kenya following his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1993. In 1986 he received the Meritorious Service Cross for planning and commanding two sensitive prisoner exchanges in the Middle East. He sits on six committees of the Colonel Belcher Veterans Care Centre, including the Fundraising Committee, which has raised a total of $2 million. As a member of the Veterans Affairs Canada - Canadian Forces Advisory Council, Mr. Ethell is actively engaged in deliberations aimed at improving services for retired Canadian Forces Veterans and is a frequent media commentator on subjects concerning Veterans and Canada's military history.
