J. Loren Gorman

Mr. Gorman is a Second World War Navy Veteran. He has dedicated a lifetime of volunteer service in various roles, including minister, mayor and serving with a multitude of organizations in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. In the 1940s, Mr. Gorman served as a Padre for Veterans of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL). He ensured that RCL Tribute services for deceased Veterans and Remembrance ceremonies were properly conducted. Since returning to his hometown, Millville, in 1999, Mr. Gorman has been a committed member of the local branch of the RCL. He has served as an executive member, President, Associate Padre and as a Service Officer. Mr. Gorman has also volunteered on various committees, including Remembrance, Honors & Awards and the Poppy Campaign. In addition to his work with the RCL, Mr. Gorman was also Treasurer of the Millville Area Veterans’ Memorial Committee for more than six years. In 2013, he participated in the Remembrance Program, Recognition of NATO and UN Veterans event, in spite of notable declining health. Mr. Gorman has 38 years of unbroken RCL membership and is a Life Member. In honour and recognition of his outstanding service to Veterans and the community, Mr. Gorman was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
